Best Aleve PM Alternative?
Due to all the negative reviews about Aleve PM, we’ve been looking for a competitive product that was proven more effective. We checked several of them with deception, and finally came around a real effective sleep aid. You can read its review HERE.
Who Is Aleve PM For?
This product is for those who are dealing with pain and struggle to fall asleep because of it.
The sleep aid is intended to be taken before going to sleep. This ensures that you stay asleep and are not woken up because of lack of pain management during the night.
This product is safe for adults and children over the age of 12 years old.
However, because of the naproxen in this sleep aid, you should ask a doctor before using it.
If you have a history of stomach problems, heartburn, blood pressure, heart disease, liver cirrhosis, asthma, or kidney disease, you should consult a doctor before using this product.
How Does Aleve PM Work?
There is 220 mg of a common pain reliever called naproxen sodium in each caplet.
Once it has been taken, the naproxen sodium will work to target your pain by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins.
Prostaglandins are produced as a response to getting an injury or infection that causes inflammation.
Therefore, the blocking of these prostaglandins from being released should result in users feeling less pain.
There is also 25 mg of a common sleep aid called diphenhydramine HCI which will kick in to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.
Aleve PM Ingredients
This sleep aid contains two main active ingredients.
The first active ingredient is 220 mg of naproxen sodium. This acts as the pain relieving part of the formula.
It can be used in treating headaches, joint pain and stiffness, cramps, and more.
It is considered an NSAID, and inhibits the reactions that cause inflammation such as injury and infection.
The second main ingredient is 25 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride. This acts as the sleep inducing part of the formula.
It is an antihistamine that is commonly used in treating those with allergies. It is also used for treating insomnia, colds, and nausea.
Other inactive ingredients are: FD&C blue #2 lake, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, povidone, talc, and titanium dioxide.
Aleve PM Side Effects
This product comes with a long list of side effects in both the active and inactive parts of the formula.
Naproxen sodium can cause severe allergic reactions such as hives, shock, facial swelling, asthma, redness in the skin, rashes, blisters, and stomach bleeding.
If you experience any of these allergic reactions, you should speak to a doctor as soon as possible. Side effects include: indigestion, heartburn, stomach pain, nausea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, bruising, itching, rashes, swelling, and ringing in the ears.
Diphenhydramine hydrochloride can cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, loss of coordination, dry mouth, dry nose, dry throat, constipation, upset stomach, dry eyes, blurry vision, and the feeling of a hangover or daytime drowsiness.
Some of the inactive ingredients also come with side effects.
FD&C Blue #2 Aluminum Lake has been linked to ADHD and side effects such as blue tinged skin, urine and feces, as as well as the risk for hypotension, tumors, and cancer.
Hypromellose has been known to have side effects such as blurred vision, pain in the eyes, eye irritation, and redness of eyes.
Polyethylene Glycol can cause side effects such as severe or bloody diarrhea, bleeding from the rectum, blood in the stools, severe and worsening stomach pain, bloating, and cramping.
Aleve PM Dosage
The recommended dosage of this sleep aid is to take two caplets before you go to sleep.
You should take the caplets with a glass of water, or food or milk if you experience an upset stomach.
Using more than necessary for a longer period of time than directed could increase the risk of side effects, reactions, or even having a heart attack and stroke.
Aleve PM Reviews
The Aleve PM reviews are conflicting.
Many reviewers who have been struggling with sleeplessness and pain management expressed their dissatisfaction with the product.
Not only did the substance do nothing for them, but in some cases it made things worse.
Some consumers complained of grogginess, restlessness, daytime drowsiness, and even wetting the bed.
Others stated that the product would either not work at all, or the pain reliever would work but the sleep aid would not.
Some reviews expressed that the product benefited them, but they only gave a 4 star review because they would only get 4 hours of sleep or the product would take a few hours to kick in.
Where To Buy Aleve PM
You can find this product at any pharmacy or drug store in your area because it is a common over-the-counter sleep aid.
You can also buy it from large stores like Walmart and Walgreens. It is also available on Amazon.
Does Aleve PM Really Work Or Is It A Scam?
We do not believe Aleve PM is a scam, knowing that it comes from a manufacturer that has been around for decades with a relatively decent track record.
However, the product does not appear to give consumers everything they are promised.
For being made by such a well-known pharmaceutical company, the product lacks the ability to be consistent in giving positive results to every consumer.
It is hard to say if this product really works because it seems to work on some but not on others.
Furthermore, this sleep aid comes with a long list of severe side effects and risks. These can further complicate the issues, keeping consumers in pain and unable to fall asleep.
In the end, it is up to you if you choose to support this company or not.
We believe that there are much safer, natural, and more beneficial sleep aids on the market.
